Dr. Katzen received his dental degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 1972 and his postgraduate degree in orthodontics from Tufts University in Boston in 1977. He has been in the exclusive practice of orthodontics here in the Rogue Valley since then. He has pioneered the use of orthodontic devices which eliminate the need for tooth extraction and jaw surgery during orthodontic treatment and has made numerous presentations at professional meetings on these techniques.

Dr. Katzen has a history of strong community involvement including the Ashland YMCA board, Ashland Rotary Club, Medford Rotary Club, President of the Southern Oregon Dental Society, Medford-Jackson county Chamber Leadership Program, Ashland Middle School Task Force, and sponsor of community youth and adult sports programs.

Dr. Katzen is also a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, the highest level that can be achieved in the orthodontic profession.
